National Association of Cancer Exercise Rehabilitation

At this site you will find out why it is important for cancer patients and survivors to maintain a basic level of fitness throughout their 'cancer journey' and beyond.

You don't need to be a Lance Armstrong or Jane Tomlinson, a minimum of 30 minutes moderate* exercise/activity 4/5 days a week will provide the following benefits for cancer patients**.

  • Improve quality of life - helps maintains a level of aerobic fitness and strength conditioning
  • Improve levels of self-esteem - it gives back a sense of control
  • Reduce the intensity and onset of Cancer Related Fatigue
  • Reduce the incidence of secondary cancers by 50%

If there is one single message from the evidence available it is this "Rest is not best".

*The 30 minutes should be around 55-60% of maximum heart rate (220 - age) and can be cumalative ie not all in one session.

**Each patients diagnosis is unique, for a personalised exercise routine consult your medical team for local schemes or contact one of our specialists
